Bout time I did an update again. Will try keeping this one short. Gonna be heading to visit my folks for the Holidays in Connecticut later this evening. Looking forward to seeing them and I will also get to see my sister and her family while there since they will be coming down as well. Kinda a last minute thing, wish I could of had it planned a little better and could have saved some airfare money, but it is still a decent price. At least I will have 4 full days there which means I won't feel rushed. I do seem to have fun when I go up there, my parents treat me well, not too mention that my birthday is next week so they are planning on cake and cookout this weekend since I will be up. Yays! As far as other news I have been pretty happy as of late. Things are slowly falling into place in my life and I can see a bright future. Not sure since the final paperwork hasn't arrived but the divorce stuff is all wrapped up so thats one big thing off my mind and makes it easier for me and my mate Cachette. Things are going real there too as I have a total blast every time I am together with him and we show soo much love for eachother. Its a good feeling! I am going to be busy in the next few months with camping, Anthrocon, and possibly a work trip to Guatemala coming up. Once again, I will try to update a bit more often. Follow me on twitter (ScooterSquirrel) if you aren't already!

Hey all! Just wanted to say that I had a most enjoyable weekend with my squirrely mate. We went to Ocean City to see the doodah parade and saw quite a few suiters there. What an awesome day to be there, nice, sunny, warm and it was a pretty neat area to see. Kinda like a small Ocean City (Maryland). Feel bad we didn't get to meet up with the suiters or anything, but we got to partake in festivities and it is nice knowing that perhaps next year I could hopefully walk in the parade myself, with my suit. After the parade, we walked around a bit then decided to drive down to Cape May to look around (I have never been there). We found an awesome plushy shop and I got two more squirrels I didn't have, one even chitters! Well, as I am rather tired (have been lately, think its allergies) thats gonna be the extent of my journal. Hopefully I can spend many more awesome weekends like this with my squirrely! Go check out my pics (sorry, I take aweful pics). http://www.flickr.com/photos/22606043@N07/sets/72157617148121560/

This past weekend was a great one!

The weather was beautiful and it was really nice getting outside and spending time with my friends.  On Saturday, Cachette was able to drive down to my house and arrived at about 8:45 in the morning where I proceeded to give him a tour of my house since it was his first time here.  He also got to meet three of our five cats (other two were in hiding I guess).  We soon headed out and decided to go to the local flea market (which was going that day, perhaps it is only on Saturdays?).  Not too much was open yet but hit a few shops including the comic book store which had a few plushies but nothing great.  We then decided to drive down to Saint Mary’s City since Cachette wanted to see that and it was a nice day for a drive.  Stopped at the College and took a self guided tour though this historic site which was the ruins of an old house and it was pretty interesting as far as “history” goes.   After that was lunch at Applebee’s in California (Maryland that is) which was pretty darn delicious.  Had one of the Pick Three Meals which are always good and Cachette had a Cowboy burger which he liked.  I really love having a chilled out, relaxing lunch, which we had the past few times.  That afternoon we headed over to Calvert Cliffs Park to dig fossils.  It is a nice walk to the cliffs (1.8 miles) and was an awesome day so really couldn’t ask for a better time.  The tide was up when we got there but we were able to get to a decent digging spot and found quite a few good scallop shells this time including a whole one.  (I planned ahead this time and brought some long neck screwdrivers which worked well for digging).  Happy with our find, we headed back home.  Later that night after cleaning up, I cooked some chicken out on the grill and we watched some TV before going to bed.

On Sunday, the squirrel and I got up decently early as we were meeting Thea, Radar, and Delphanaeous in DC at 11.  Stopped and gassed up the cars then caught breakfast at McDonalds since we were still a little early.  We both drove separately up to the metro station since it would put Cachette closer to home when he had to leave.    The Metro ride in was pretty slow as track maintenance was being done (this amounts to about 8 people on the track eating donuts, standing, or talking).  Not one of the damn people was working!  Grrrr.   We arrived right on time and met Delphanaeous and eventually met up with Thea and Radar since we went to the wrong building.  The art exhibit was good but it was pretty crowded for me.  Once done, we decided it was a nice day so we all went to the zoo which was also crowded (must have been the nice weather).  We had a good look around (loved watching the otters!!!!) and had lunch in an outdoor pavilion as well as hunted for plushies at a few of the stores.  We then walked back to metro and parted ways on the train ride (since we had to transfer).  The ride back was hell.  Stupid track maintenance again basically meant it took almost an hour longer than it should have to get back.  Having known they were doing that, I would have parked on the Blue line at Largo, made for a frustrating end of the day.  Me and my squirrel parted ways in the parking lot then headed our separate ways home.

It was a most awesome weekend!

Adam E. Tomasik aka AdamWolf/ LupisNocturna took a shot in the neck today that turned fatal due to blood loss, while on patrol in Muntanabi, Iraq with Bravo Battery. He was an amazing musician that will not easily be forgotten and my heart goes out to his family. Don't have too much fun up there without us, mate.

Is there any good news as of late?  This just makes one appreciate the freedoms we do have over here even though we all bitch about the current economics of our country (me included).  Things can always be worse!   My prayers go out to his family and friends.

Some guys car alarm keeps going off atleast once maybe twice per hour and it is annoying as hell!   I am five floors up and it is parked somewhere near my corner of the building.  Other than that, work is busy as hell I and I am starting to get tired as I have been here since 4AM.  Oh, on another subject, I am also attempting to make an otter tail out of some leftover fur (some project long ago).  We will see how that goes, I want to wear it bowling this weekend!

Where does the nonsense stop with this crap?  This sort of thing really ticks me off, this is like the cases of shooting someone coming into burgularize your house and getting sued by them.     Urgh, I don't even know why I read the news anymore, its nothing but crap.

Tis the morning....

Well, after a typical commute into work (the roads were a bit icy but not bad) I get into the parking lot at work.  It is one giant sheet of ice!   I was sooo wanting to go to the far end of the parking lot and do doughnuts with my truck in the parking lot but I am at a semi-professional place with guards and crap so thought better of it.  I just can't believe who ever takes care of the lot didn't sand/salt it.  I am just hoping that someone doesn't slam into my truck!  Can you say lawsuit!  urgh, only makes me mad since my family does that type of business and I used to help and people were real pricks about sanding and all.

In other news not much..  My sister in New Hampshire is expecting possibly 20 inches of snow in the next day (must be nice).   We got what we typically get here (crap).  Thats about it.  Little bummed since I see my freind Evilsquirrel commissioned a big stuffed acorn (anime style) which is pretty damn cool (saw it on the persons LJ).  I had had a thought of doing something sorta similar for my suit (just a regular type of stuffed acorn) but it won't be ready for awhile still.  Kinda would suck now since if I did it would sorta feel like copying now, guess I have to come up with something else.  It's just hard to be orginal anymore it seems.  Well, atleast I am not a wolf or fox (JOKING!).   Atleast it is pretty warm in the office today.

While it may only be a quick snow shower that didn't amount to much, it was still really nice to see it snowing this morning.  Looks like we could get a couple inches or so before it turns to sleet, freezing rain, then rain making things a slushy mess.  Urgh, while I like it getting warm out sooner in the spring, I do miss the winters of the Northeast, where you actually get snow!   Well, anyways, looking forward to our snowy slushy mess coming up!

Well, I am back in the states and I must say I had an absolutely awesome time over in England.  Thanks to Blueberry and Sedric for putting up with me the whole time (don;t think I was that much of a PITA).  Thanks to Mr Wolf for having me stay in his place to have a wonderful Christmas.  Thanks to Evilsquirrel for bringing his suit and giving this squirrely some big hugs!  And thanks to all the others I met while I was over there, really everyone was very nice and I would easily go back at any chance.

Well, been awhile again.  I fail at LJ I guess.

haha. Lets see...... Since the last journal quite a lot has happened.   In mid October, I took a trip with Midnight and Tes down to see WhitePaw and his mate down in Virginia Beach.  The weekend wasn't really nice weather wise so we had ended up staying at his place which was pretty nice.  Since my friends already gave very detailed accounts of this trip in their journals, I will forego another one here and just say that I had a lot of fun down there.  WhitePaw is an awesome fur as well as his mate, and his mom cooks one hell of a breakfast!   I also got the chance to meet some fo the local furries when we met up at Busch Gardens and had a great time there as well.

The next week was tough.  I lost my other bunny (she developed some neurological issues and had to be put down).  I never had to put a pet down before and it was a sad experience but for the best since she just lost her mate and is older too.  She went peacefully and is now with her Jack over the rainbow bridge somewhere.  Later that week, I lost my sugar glider Skye.  She was older too and just went quick and peacefully as well, while I was holding her in my hand.   While this was truely a sad three weeks or so with my pets, I was happy that each one gave me time to be with them before they passed.  Safe to say, I was really bumming that week.  To my surprise, Midnight and Tes called me up and had me come over to spend a day with them that weekend.  I was met with a nice card and a couple plushies which sit by my pillow on my bed now. We bummed around a bit and I got to see Kains house.  We then went to the mall (I learned I shouldn't pop subway bags in the food court) and got some food before heading out. I thank them for really cheering me up that weekend and just making me feel loved.

The following weekend was Halloween.  I had no plans (was going to sit at home and hand out candy, if I had any trick or treaters).  Midnight called me up and decided to go to Markovs Haunted Forest with Tes and had a fun time despite none of up being scared. I got to wear my tail and the wolf took his big tail and cat puppet which caused some funny reactions.  I did manage to step on some guys nuts (by accident) when I got off path and fell into a hole where one of the employees was.  I guess I always provide some sort of comic relief.

As I write this entry, I am watching Obama being declared the new president.  With a democratic House and Senate, we are bound to see some big changes!  Just not sure if thats good or bad.    Well till next time.

Yeah, well I guess I blew my goal of posting more often.  :P

Since last time there has been a decent amount of stuff to update.  Attended a camping trip a few weeks ago which was a heck of a lot of fun!   Was nice to meet the new people I hadn't seen yet and kinda nice to win the acorn battle (at least I think I won).  Squirrel knows how to use his nuts.  XD    Also, in big news since last time is that I have put down the deposit on my fursuit being made by Lacy!  I am soo excited and should have it around this time next year, in time for furfright  which I am definately planning on attending.  The waiting is going to suck, I am bad at that, but all good things take time.   Since I am horrible with waiting, I was really tempted to go with a newer builder who could offer a quicker turnaround time but I really wanted a good looking suit from an established, reputable builder.  I think I will have that.  You can scope out my FA page "scootersquirrel" to see what Scooter will look like.

In other news, the holidays are approaching.  I will most likely go to see my family over Thanksgiving, perhaps another chance to talk about stuff some but it will probably end up like all the other times where nothing gets said.  Ahh, screw it.  I don;t care anymore, I am happy and thats all that matters to me.  For Christmas / New Years I am trying to plan to get to the UK.  It is still being planned and I really hope I can get over there, I know I would have an awesome time!       Well, back to work.

Okay, so I said I would update more often....  This past weekend was a fucking blast!   Honestly, when I first think of camping I remember back to cub scouts and spending one rainy ass weekend couped up in a tent, getting soaked in the rain, and basically being totally miserable the entire time.  Well, the weather was better for us and I had a bit nicer accommodations than a tent.  Got to try disc golf which was fun (I sucked but got better towards the end), went swimming, had awesome food done outside on the campfire.  Also got to see some cute ass ferrets and a mini dachshund (weiner doggie).   Thanks Midnight for having me out, I am definitely looking forward to Oktoberfur weekend!  Also was nice meeting Tes as well.  This weekend is the Friday night meet, then Saturday I am going to the Bowling event Elliot is putting on.  Looking forward to seeing some suiters and just having fun!

Other than that, same old same old.  At least the weather is getting exciting!  Looks like we have Hanna to deal with for the weekend although it is going to be pretty weak when it hits here.  Ahh, we need the rain though.  Have to try and get some damn chores done on Sunday if possible.  Two of the 3 pool return lines are clogged so I have to get the air tank and try to blow them out.  I can't run the filter and it is now bright green.  Urgh, I always hated Sundays, guess this weekend won't be any different.  :P

Been awhile since I updated.  I will try not to let it be this far between posts in the future.

Whats new in the life of the squirrel?  Had a pretty nice time with my folks last weekend, they came down to visit and to see my apartment.    We ended up spending much of the time in Ocean City which was awesome and got to drink and eat well (must have gained 10 pounds urgh!).   The time we did spend at my place I tried to "show" a little furry to them by leaving out a bunch of plushies on the bed and basically letting my mom on the computer (had a Zorori wallpaper).   I wasn't able to watch the whole time but I don't think she snooped, I did have a lot of bookmarks on my PC that I am sure she would have said something if inadvertently come across.  From what I can tell, they just think I am a big kid.  Well, fine with me, we will leave that as is for now.  :P

Looking forward to this weekend, I am going camping!  Should be an experience, I only camped a few times and that was pretty long ago.   Also, following weekend is Elliots Bowling event which  should be fun.  Seems like his event ruffles a few feathers with some of the locals which I didn;t know about but I still want to go to check it out for myself.  Hell, no better opportunity to see some fursuits!  Perhaps one day, I will be able to partake in the fun of suiting too.   Well, I am tired of writing.    laters.   ^..^___#

Well, about time I updated things here.   Things have been pretty much the same with me since the last update, some days good some days not so good.  But as always, I keep trudging along and taking things day by day and so far, it has worked okay for me.  Been struggling a bit with my few friends that I do have in that I haven't been talking too much to them due to various reasons.  One friend seems to be going through a rough time which I can understand and sympathize wish, just wish I could be more of a help for him.  One other friend I just don't get to talk to due to the fact of he is 5 hours ahead of my time and usually asleep when I get home.  Just sad though since I have tried to keep in contact via email yet he doesn't seem to want to get back to me that way lately.  It is okay though, I understand people get busy or don't want to push problems on other people but it gets a bit frustrating mostly just due to my personality more than anything.    It is all good though, they will always be very good friends of mine regardless, and I continue to make more friends everyday including a few new squirrel buds, yay!

The only other thing to talk about really is the long Holiday weekend I had with my folks.  I had huge intentions of telling them alot about me (gay and being furry, etc.), but kinda fell really short in the long run.  I do believe however, that things will work out okay when the time comes.  My sister does know about me being gay so perhaps she will talk a little to them and break the ice for me.  Just never get a great time to pop it into a conversation with my folks.   Well, this time my dad offered to pay for me to fly so I couldn't resist the offer as the drive is just shy of 7 hours and really sucks.  So flew Southwest and headed out Wednesday morning, and I must say I would definately travel with them again, they really seemed to have their shit together and everything was super easy.  I also like getting to choose any seat in the plane (window seats, yes!).  Traveled up to the Hartford Connecticut region and spent two days at my parents house, kinda taking it easy and not doing overly much except diagnosing my mothers slow computer.  Well, ended up being that it only had 128 MB of RAM.  Appaulling!  Found out it could only take up to 512 MB's and had to order it for her.  Well, safe to say I wasn't doing much of anything on her computer while I was there.  On the 4th, we headed up to my sisters place in the morning.  The weather was nice up there (was raining in CT) and we ended up using their boat for a couple days and my parents brought their Sea-Doo as well so that was fun.  On the evening of the 4th my brother in law and I did a nice fireworks display for the freinds and family that was over.  Lots of good food there and earlier that day I played a friendly (but rather intense) game of whiffleball (which I have been paying for in soreness since I am out of shape).  The rest of the time, I was either sleeping or losing to my nephew at Guitar Hero III.   I then flew back late Sunday night and while we had a 20 minute delay, things went great.

All in all, it was good and relaxing, but I am happy to be back here.  Back to work now and just trying to get back into the rythm and catching up with what I missed last week.   Just get bummed since I feel in limbo with everything right now.  That and the bleak economy (would want to sell the house and move someday) is really holding up any plans for atleast another year or two.  That, coupled with our building move for work (extra 1/2 hour each way in the morning) slated for late 2009, things just don't look great in the long run.  Guess thats why I try to focus on day to day stuff perhaps.  Well, tomorrow is another day I guess.

Hello peeps (all 2 or 3 of you). :P  Once again I am updating my journal here, seems to be about monthly or so now.   Not much has changed since the last time I wrote, pretty much back to work and back to being miserable (at work).  Things outside work have been okay for me which is saying quite a bit.  I am very happy for my draggy friend since he got a new job and is liking the training for it atleast.  (Makes me happy that friends are happy).  Stinks a little though in the fact that with the hours he is there, it doesn't give us as much time to talk to one another.  Hopefully once he is done with training, we will again have more time. *I am still beaming from his visit*  As for myself, not too much thats new.  I did have a really fun time at the last fur meet we had at Tyson's Corner last week.  Was the first time I really felt at ease with people and not nervous as shit.  Was nice seeing some new faces there as well as some I have got to know over the past mall meets.  Was really looking forward to tonights meet as well but alas, I am sick and don't feel like giving my germs to everyone.  Just really feels good not feeling like you have to sit over in the corner and not talk with anyone.  Not that they made me feel like that in past meets, but if anyone knows what it is like for people who are not the best in group situations, then they would understand.   Guess I will just have to wait till next month before going out or anything, but it is fine, I will get by.

It will be busy for me in the upcoming month or so.  Work is work, it will always be there, and always beating upon me.  We have a company picnic coming up in July, should be a load of fun (heavy on the sarcasm).  Guess I will keep my eye open for another job possibility but in the meantime, it will just keep moving along.  On a better note, booked tickets for my flight over the 4th of July Holiday to see my folks.   It is always good seeing them and this time I will also get to see my sister which is nice.  Should be interesting though for the fact that they will now know I am gay.   My sister basically figured it out so I am not sure if my mom and dad know.  I am really okay with this though since it something I feel good about and am not really ashamed of.  I feel bad that I kinda led life to this time trying to be regular and do all the regular things, I had it engrained in me that I should be "normal".   While I am fine with them knowing I am gay, I really don't think I want to tell them about the furry side.  It would make my life soo much easier to tell them, but I just really don't need them knowing everything about me and reading my LJ or just perusing what I am up to.   I don't know, may see how they take the first news to see if I want to tell them the second.  Just hate having to hide shit, I am a horrible liar so I just don't go into detail about anything.  Again, will just see how everything goes.  Okay, this is long enough for tonight, my brain hurts.  Laters...

Okay,

So it has been a good while since I updated this thing.  Truth is, I really don't like writing all that much to begin with but it kinda helps to talk about shit sometimes.  Not the case though with this entry since this is about one awesome week I had with a furry dragon from the UK that came to visit me.  Mind you, till now I have only been to three furmeets at the local mall in town, thats been all of my furry experience (other than the online pieces).  Now I was actually meeting a fur in real life and getting to hang out for a week together just being the way we want and acting, well, furry.  Here is a little account of the past week which was awesome.

My draggy friend from the UK, Sharitioxz (Shari) [http://sharitioxz.deviantart.com/], arrived on Saturday and his plane was actually a half hour early (all flights that day seemed a bit early for some reason).  After waiting and looking at several waves of people leaving customs at the airport and meeting up with their respective parties, Shari spotted me first and said hello.   After exchanging greetings and quickly moving towards the exit as to not get trampled by the hoards of people leaving, we walked to my truck.  Got outside and it was pleasantly warm out that day (maybe 75) and sunny which made it feel much warmer and it was pretty warm for the draggy.   From the airport we left directly for RCFM (Rockey City Fur Meet)  which was an 11 hour car ride.  The decision to attend this was a rather last second plan, I wish I knew about it sooner and he could have rescheduled his flight since we would only be hitting the last day of it.  Trouble is that we just both wanted to get to a con badly, that even 1 day would be a good day.   The 11 hour trip went well and we quickly got over any of the awkwards nervousness associated with meeting someone for the first time IRL.   Oh, sometime I will have to stop back through Knoxville and snap a pic of that huge sign for Brown Squirrel Furniture store, it was rather nice!

So, we finally arrive in Alabama and get to the con after a brief kip (haha, now I am sounding English) and had an enjoyable time.  Registered and decided to have breakfast since very few furs were up when things opened (sure it was a late Saturday night for most people).   Was itching to pick up my conbadge that I had commissioned by AnimeCat (http://www.furaffinity.net/user/animecat/) and when the doors to the dealers room opened, that was the first thing I did.  I absolutely friggin love my conbadge [it's my first] (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1342300/) and must admit, AnimeCat does awesome work (thanks again).  We then walked around a bunch and looked through the the dealers room (several times) and artist alley and I even commissioned another badge which is cute from Pan-Pan (http://www.furaffinity.net/user/pan-pan/) and so did Shari.  After lunch, we sat for awhile and watched some of the fursuit games which was neat since I never seen any suits close up till this point.   For the rest of the day, we walked around a bit here and there, ate lunch at Schlotskys (sp?) and chilled out.  Tried to hit closing ceremonies but the room was packed and we wouldn't have seen anything so went back to the room and slept.  We decided to leave mid-morning (3AM ish) since it was Memorial Day weekend and traffic would only get worse and worse the later we left.  Most of the drive went real well till we got to the route 301 "Nice" bridge which was anything but.  Like a 2 hour backup from people that just can't drive (plus the bridge is only 1 lane).

Got back and ordered out that night, yummy Chinese!   The following day we pretty much hit some stores the next day to just look around.  Weather was supposed to be crappy but ended out being pretty nice.  I got a nice picture and card from Shari since it was my birthday and we had cake later that day and just an overall very nice day.  The day after, we decided to go to a few stores and hit the local mall which was fun.  Shari bought a few tee shirts and we just had a fun time being out.   The following day we headed to Annapolis and walked around the old part of the town which is basically a touristy area but very pretty and all.  On the way back we hit the Annapolis Mall and I had a laugh when someone from a tea shop tried selling us some tea.  The woman asked if we drink tea and Shari said yeah, he was from the UK and her mouth almost dropped.  :)  Was rather amusing and unexpected.  Also, since I had a giftcard to Circuit City for my birthday from my family and I decided to buy Guitar Hero III for my Wii so we ended up playing that till early morning.

Thursday we took to go to the zoo and see DC.  The zoo was great (actually got to see quite a few animals this time, they weren't all sleeping).   We then went to the National History museum which was good and walked to see the Washington Monument and White House.  Near the White House we passed some so very cute squirrels who would come right too you looking for food.  Even after searching a few of the trash bins, I was not able to find any and after a little while and a couple of pictures, they knew they weren't getting anything and took off.  Again, later that night, more Guitar Hero.  Friday and Saturday was just spent kinda chilling, playing Wii and picking up a few last items for Shari to take back.   Our trip back to the airport was "interesting" since we had big thunderstorms and road construction which caused about a 3 three hour delay getting over the bridge.  Found a back way and while later than expected, was able to get to the airport with plenty of time left.  Was a boring drive home that afternoon and spent most of the rest of the night playing Wii.

That was a very good week and I am very sad that it is now over and it is back to reality.

You don't usually get angry too easily but some things can annoy you, however you are sensitive about what others think of you. Your concern about rejection and ridicule cause you to feel shy and uncomfortable around others. You are easily embarrassed and often feel ashamed. Your fears that others will criticize or make fun of you are exaggerated and unrealistic, but your awkwardness and discomfort may make these fears a self-fulfilling prophecy. People generally perceive you as distant and reserved, and you do not usually reach out to others. You prefer dealing with either people or things rather than ideas. You regard intellectual exercises as a waste of your time. You do not like to claim that you are better than other people, and generally shy from talking yourself up, however you are mostly a compassionate person, however you prefer to make objective judgments when possible. You have a strong sense of duty and obligation, and feel a moral obligation to do the right thing.
